Resources for younger learners (ages 5-7)

Although most of our students are adults, we have decided to add a resource section for younger learners as research shows that there is very little available online in terms worksheets and exercises for children. These resources are designed to help you understand the methods your child will learn to perform the operations of numeracy & literacy. Children move through these stages at their own speed according to their ability and preferred learning style. Hence, children in similar year groups at school may be at very different stages.

There is a continued emphasis on mental methods throughout the schooling process and children are encouraged to estimate first, even when they know more formal methods. This avoids careless mistakes and reliance on method rather than on knowledge. During the early years most exercises are based on informal methods or jottings. Later, learners will be competent in using the standard methods many of us learned in school. However, since many other methods rely on pressing the right buttons in the right order rather than on reasoning and understanding, these resources are aimed at introducing expanded visual learning methods.

It is important not to confuse children in the earlier stages by introducing the formal method too soon.

Introducing our new blog!

One day our photoshop tutor recommended that we start a blog so we gave him the job of creating the introduction. Muhahaha!
I’ll use this blog to share photoshop resources, tell you about the photoshop courses that I teach and to give you hints, tips, lessons and my opinions – whether you like them or not!

As you may have already read above – I’m a Photoshop tutor with lots to share and I have a very good well-rounded knowledge on photoshop, Illustrator, dreamweaver, html and css (sorry, this is starting to sound like my CV! I also work as a freelance graphic designer and do a bit of web-design when I have free time. This blog will be completely designed by me (with help from my students), but at the moment I’m just using a pre-made skin till I get something that is workable done.
I’ve done a little bit of 3D design too, and wish I had more time to pursue this and lots of other hobbies. I also want to get into flash animating (and a lot of other stuff), but right now I’m too busy lazing aroundover at Hyde Park!

I’ve been a designer for more years than I care to admit and I tell people I’m really skilled so they sign up for my photoshop courses In truth all the classes I teach are lots of fun and I’ve had lots of brilliant reviews so if that’s not enough to get you to come then we also have free biscuits and tea!

Thats it for now. I’ll try my best to keep my opinions to myself in future!
